Primary text

Mules, donkeys, elephants, and other mounts besides horses and camels receive no share, without disagreement, even if their service in battle is significant and potentially equivalent to horses. This is because the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not allocate shares for them, nor did any of the Rightly Guided Caliphs. Furthermore, these animals are not permissible as stakes in prize races, unlike horses.
