Primary text
It is permissible to conclude a pact of security (Aman) for messengers and those seeking security. This is based on the practice of the Prophet, peace be upon him, who granted security to the messengers of the polytheists. When messengers from Musaylimah came to him, he stated, "Were it not that messengers are not to be killed, I would have killed you both." Furthermore, necessity demands this, as killing their messengers would result in the killing of our messengers, thus preventing the benefit derived from correspondence.
