Is it permissible to favor some warriors over others in the division of spoils?

It is not permissible to favor some warriors over others in the distribution of spoils, except when the Imam grants a specific portion (nafl) as a gratuity, as explained regarding the spoils designated for that purpose (al-anfal). This is because the Prophet, peace be upon him, divided spoils by allotting three shares to a mounted soldier and one share to a foot soldier, thereby establishing equality among them in the general division. Furthermore, since they participated in the spoils based on equality, equality in distribution is obligatory, akin to all other partners.
