When is it permissible to fight the enemy after a truce has been established?

If the enemy violates the covenant, fighting them becomes permissible according to the command: But if they break their oaths after their treaty and defame your religion, then fight the leaders of disbelief (Quran 9:12). Also, if they remain steadfast towards you, then remain steadfast towards them (Quran 9:7). The precedent for this is when Quraysh violated the treaty with the Prophet, peace be upon him, who then marched out to fight them and conquered Mecca.
