Is it permissible to kill a woman during conflict?
General Chapter

Primary text
The killing of a woman during conflict is prohibited. This ruling is held by Malik, the Ashab al-Ra'y (Companions of the Opinion/Hanafi school), and it is narrated from Abu Bakr al-Siddiq and Mujahid. Evidence includes Ibn Abbas's interpretation of the verse, "And do not transgress" (Quran 2:190), stating it means: do not kill women, children, or the elderly man. Furthermore, the Prophet (peace be upon him) indicated that the reason for not killing her is that she is not one who fights, as seen in his inquiry, "What is the matter with this one who was killed, while she is not fighting?"
