Is it permissible to practice mutilation upon the dead?

Mutilation of the dead is prohibited. The Prophet, peace be upon him, commanded: 'Indeed, Allah has prescribed excellence in all things. So when you kill, kill well, and when you slaughter, slaughter well,' as narrated by Al-Nasa'i through Shaddad ibn Aws.
