Is it permissible to transport the heads of polytheists from one land to another?

It is disliked (makruh) to transport the heads of polytheists from one land to another, and it is disliked to mutilate their dead. This is based on the narration of Samurah ibn Jundab, where the Prophet, peace be upon him, encouraged charity and forbade mutilation. Furthermore, the Prophet, peace be upon him, stated: 'Indeed, the most merciful of people in killing are the people of faith,' as narrated by Abu Dawud.
