What was the opinion of Al-Awza'i regarding the mosques situated at the frontier?
General Chapter

Primary text
Al-Awza'i stated concerning the mosques at the frontier that if he had authority over them, he would nail shut (*samart*) their doors, but he would not destroy them, until their prayers were performed in a single location. He held this view because if the raiding party arrived while they were scattered, they would not be as formidable as when they were gathered in one place.
