Primary text
If animals or property are found by people who were lost and entered a Muslim village, they belong to all the inhabitants of that village, and they are to be divided among them. Similarly, if people in a fortress or ribat (garrison) send out others who capture animals or weapons, these possessions are to be shared between the people of the ribat and the people of the nearby settlement (hadra).
