Does a person hired to render service during a military expedition receive the share designated for a horseman or a foot soldier?

The share is given if the individual partakes in the fighting. Evidence for this is found in the narration of Salama ibn al-Akwa', who was a hired laborer for Talha when 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Uyaynah raided the Messenger of Allah's livestock; the Prophet, peace be upon him, gave him the share of the horseman and the foot soldier.
