Primary text

It is recommended (*yustahabb*) for the people of the frontier to gather for all their prayers in the greatest mosque (*al-masjid al-a'zam*). This is done so they are more unified, ensuring that if a raiding party (*nifir*) arrives, they find the community gathered, allowing news to reach everyone immediately. Furthermore, if news requiring their attention or an order needing their notification arrives, they are easily informed. When the enemy (*ayn al-kuffar*) sees them gathered, the enemy recognizes their large numbers and is intimidated by them.

Supporting text

Imam Ahmad stated that if the people were scattered, the spy would perceive them as fewer in number.
