Primary text

Regarding a strong, organized group that engages in raiding without the Imam's permission, there are two narrations. The sounder position is that the Khums is deducted, and the remainder belongs to them. The alternate view is that they receive nothing, and all the spoils revert to the general treasury (fay'). The rationale supporting these views aligns with the differing opinions concerning groups lacking military strength.

A third interpretation derived from the differing views suggests that all acquired wealth belongs entirely to the group without the Khums, on the basis that it is a permissible acquisition separate from formal Jihad.
