What is the ruling on distributing predatory animals if no one among the combatants claims them?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Jihad
Primary text
If none of the combatants desire the animals, they may be released or given to non-combatants. If some combatants desire them over others, they are given to those desiring them and not counted against their share because they hold no intrinsic value. If all or many desire them, and division by count is possible without valuation, it is done. If division is difficult or if there is a dispute over the quality of the animals, lots shall be drawn among those who desire them.
