What is the ruling if the enemy recaptures the spoils after the initial securing, and reinforcements arrive to help retake them?

Primary text
If the Muslims secure the spoils, the enemy recaptures them, and reinforcements arrive to fight alongside the original group until the spoils are recovered, Imam Ahmad stated that the reinforcements receive nothing. This is because the first group had already secured and possessed the spoils, and the reinforcements fought only on behalf of their comrades, not for the spoils themselves, as the spoils were already held by the original group. However, if the initial securing is nullified by the enemy taking the spoils, and then the new fighters retrieve them, they should share, as the first ownership was invalidated. In this latter case, reconciliation is preferred.
