Primary text
It is permissible for the Imam to offer a fixed reward, such as a dinar, to those who return to the rear guard or engage in herding captured sheep. This practice has been continually observed among the people of Sham (the Levant). This allowance is based on the potential benefit derived from these actions, such as securing the rear or managing the livestock.
