What is the ruling on a person who promises guidance upon a condition and then refuses to fulfill it?

If a man promises to guide others to something contingent upon a condition, and then sends people with him to guide them, but he refuses to guide them, they have the right to execute him. This is because his assurance (aman) was conditional, and the condition was not met.
