What is the ruling regarding the entitlement to shares for those receiving payment from Fay' (spoils other than the one-fifth share) or from Sadaqat (charity)?

Those who are given from the right of Fay' retain their shares because this provision is a right established by God for them to engage in fighting; it is not a compensation for their struggle, but rather a benefit of their struggle for the sake of the Muslims. Similarly, those given from Sadaqat, who are given assistance when they are motivated to fight, receive this as aid, not as compensation. This is evidenced by the Hadith, 'Whoever equips a fighter has the equivalent of his reward.'
