Primary text

A captive who accepts Islam cannot be ransomed, nor can a favor (Man) be done for him, except with the permission of the plunderers (Ghanimin), because he has become their property (property/spoils of war).

Supporting text

It is plausible that granting a favor (Man) is permissible. This is because granting a favor was permissible when he was a disbeliever; therefore, it is more appropriate when he has accepted Islam, as Islam is a good deed that necessitates honor and beneficence towards him, not prevention of such treatment.
