A slave participating in the expedition is distinguished from the free Muslim fighter because the horse accompanying the slave belongs to someone other than the slave. Therefore, the principle that the horse's share is tied to the rider's entitlement to a full share does not apply as it does in the case of the free Muslim fighter.
