Is a Christian wife permitted to attend her religious festivals or visit her place of worship?
General Chapter

Book of Jizya
Primary text
A man married to a Christian woman must forbid her from going out to her festival or attending her church. This ruling applies equally to a female slave. Ahmad stated that if asked about preventing her from drinking wine, the husband should command her obedience; if she refuses, he has no means to enforce the prohibition. Furthermore, if the wife requests that the husband purchase a *zunnar* (a distinguishing belt for non-Muslims), he must refuse, though she is permitted to purchase it for herself.
