Is it permissible for a Muslim to pawn a Mushaf (Quran) with People of the Book (Ahl al-Dhimma)?

It is not permissible for a man to pawn his Quran with People of the Book. This prohibition is based on the precedent that the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade traveling with the Quran into enemy territory, out of fear that the enemy might gain access to it.
