How is wealth (*Yasar*) defined for the purpose of assessing *Jizyah*?

The standard for wealth is what is customarily considered affluence among the people. It is not fixed by specific measures because assessments of this nature require explicit textual decree (*Tawqif*), and none exists for this matter. Therefore, reference must be made to established custom and tradition (*'Urf*).
