Primary text
There are two narrations regarding the oath required of a seller who denies that the buyer's slave absconded while the slave was in the seller's custody. The debate is whether the seller must swear an absolute denial that the absconding ever occurred, or merely deny knowledge of the absconding. However, if the absconded person is the seller's own offspring, the oath required is definitively an absolute denial that the event ever took place.
