The scribe must be skilled in calculation (*hasib*) because accounting is part of his work, serving as the equivalent of jurisprudence for the judge and essential for division/apportionment (*qasm*). It is also recommended that the scribe have excellent handwriting as it represents a higher degree of perfection.
