How is the defendant required to respond to an oath demand?

In every instance where the defendant is required to swear, the judge tells them three times: 'If you swear, [you succeed]; otherwise, I will deem you recalcitrant (nakul) and rule against you.' If the defendant swears, the claim is settled. If they refuse, the judge rules against them based on their refusal (nukul) when requested by the claimant.
