Is it permissible for the person delegated by the Imam to appoint himself, his father, or his son as a judge?
General Chapter

Book of Judiciary
Primary text
The person delegated by the Imam to select a judge is prohibited from appointing himself, his father, or his son to the position. This prohibition is similar to the case where one is entrusted with managing charity funds; he is not permitted to take the money himself or give it to his father or son.

There is an alternative view suggesting that it is permissible for the delegate to choose his father or son if they meet the qualifications for judgeship. This is argued because they fall under the general permission granted to the delegate concerning those eligible for the office, thus resembling unrelated third parties (strangers) in this context.
