Is it permissible for the ruler to attend banquets?

It is permissible for the ruler to attend banquets. This is established because the Prophet, peace be upon him, used to attend them and command attendance. Furthermore, the Prophet stated, "Whoever does not accept an invitation has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger." The basis for this permissibility is the established practice and command from the Prophet.
