Primary text
The ruling is not to be acted upon if the judge committed a sin before writing the ruling, because a judgment issued after he became sinful is invalid. This is because the continued righteousness (adalah) of the original witnesses is a condition for the validity of a ruling based on secondary witnesses; similarly, the continued righteousness of the judge, who stands in the position of the original witnesses, is required.
