What is the preferred seating arrangement for the scribe relative to the judge?

It is recommended that the judge have his scribe sit directly in front of him so that the scribe can observe what is being recorded and hear what is dictated. If the scribe sits to the side, it is still permissible because the objective is achieved when the written material is presented to the judge for confirmation and verification.
