Primary text
The very first act of judicial administration is to send for the previously serving, dismissed judge to retrieve the judicial register (*diwan al-hukm*). This register contains all official documentation, including records of proceedings (*mahadir*), judgments (*sijillat*), and deposited evidence and deeds belonging to the litigants. Since these records were held by the previous judge by virtue of his authority, he is obliged to surrender them to his successor upon the transfer of authority.
