What is the ruling on seeking the judicial office?
General Chapter

Book of Judiciary
Primary text
It is disliked (Makruh) for a person to seek the office of the judge or strive to obtain it. Anas narrated that the Prophet said: Whoever seeks the judiciary and petitions for it through intercessors, he is entrusted to himself. But whoever is compelled to it, Allah will send an angel to guide him aright. Al-Tirmidhi deemed this Hadith Hasan Gharib (good and strange).

Furthermore, the Prophet explicitly told Abd al-Rahman ibn Samurah: O Abd al-Rahman, do not ask for authority, for if it is given to you upon request, you will be left to it (i.e., it will be a burden), but if it is given to you without request, you will be aided in it. This Hadith is agreed upon (Muttafaq 'alayh).
