If a wife grants her husband one thousand Dirhams in exchange for him giving her the option of divorce, and she chooses her husband (i.e., affirms the marriage), the husband does not return anything to her. This is because the one thousand Dirhams was compensation for granting her the authority to choose; since he fulfilled his part by granting the option, he has earned the money. The money is not a compensation for the dissolution of the marriage.
