Is the camel driver obliged to stop the camel for the rider to perform obligatory prayer (Salat al-Fard)?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Leasing
Primary text
The camel driver is obliged to stop the camel so that the rider may descend to perform the obligatory prayer, relieve himself, and purify himself. The camel must remain standing until the rider finishes these actions, because none of these necessities can be fulfilled while on the camel's back.
Supporting text
If the rider can perform acts such as eating, drinking, or voluntary prayers (Sunan or others) while on the camel's back, the camel driver is not obliged to make the camel kneel, nor is the camel driver required to wait for him to perform them.
