Taking wages is permissible for actions whose performer is not required to have the intention of drawing near to God (Qurbah), such as teaching calligraphy, mathematics, permissible poetry, building mosques, and constructing bridges. This permissibility stems from the fact that such actions may sometimes be an act of worship and sometimes not, which does not preclude hiring someone to perform them, similar to planting trees or building houses. This ruling extends to teaching Fiqh and Hadith.
