Does the physical diminution of rented items due to use invalidate the rental contract?

Primary text
The argument that diminution from friction invalidates the contract is unsound because such loss is minuscule and not compensated by a price. If any visible loss occurs, the rent is compensation for the use, not for the lost parts. Rent in contracts of lease is exclusively compensation for the use, as in all other instances. If the payment compensated for the lost material, then renting one currency for another would be invalid due to the potential disparity in immediate exchange before full possession is taken.
