What is the ruling regarding compensation if a person is asked to sell goods without a specified wage?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Leasing
Primary text
If clothing is given to a person to sell, and that person is established in selling for others for wages, they are entitled to the customary wage (Ujr al-Mithl), as affirmed by Ahmad. If the person is not established in selling for wages, they receive nothing.
Supporting text
If no price is agreed upon with any of these craftsmen or agents (tailor, launderer, seller), the customary wage applies because clothing wages differ, and nothing was specified, which constitutes an irregular lease (Ijara Fasidah).
