Primary text

If a person hires a camel solely for the journey to Mecca, they are not permitted to ride it for the purpose of performing Hajj rites (beyond Mecca), as this constitutes an addition to the agreed contract.

Supporting text

There is an alternative possibility that permits riding for Hajj, based on the reasoning that hiring a camel only to Mecca usually implies hiring it for the Hajj itself, given that Mecca is seldom the destination for hiring transport except for the purpose of pilgrimage. Thus, it is considered equivalent to hiring the camel explicitly for Hajj.
