Is an admission of paternity (nasab) by an adult accepted?

An admission of paternity is accepted from an adult. This is because the admission is not an admission concerning property (mal) nor a disposition of property, thus it is accepted, similar to an admission concerning *hadd* punishment or divorce. Once paternity is established, all its consequences, such as maintenance (*nafaqa*), become obligatory because this occurs implicitly through the valid admission, akin to the maintenance obligation of a wife.
