Primary text
For an orphan from a merchant family, maturity is tested by entrusting them with buying and selling. If they manage these repeatedly without being defrauded or wasting assets, they are mature. For one from a family of dignitaries, maturity is tested by providing them with a sum for living expenses; they are mature if they manage it properly, spend it correctly, and hold their agent fully accountable. For a woman, maturity is tested by entrusting her with household management tasks, such as hiring female spinners or appointing agents for purchasing materials like linen; she is mature if she is organized and demands full accountability from her agent.
