If someone states, 'Whoever returns my slave shall have one dinar,' and a person returns the slave only to the halfway point before the slave flees from them, nothing is deserved because the condition for the reward was its complete return, and the return was not fully accomplished.

This situation is similar to a case where someone is hired to sew a garment, completes the sewing, but the garment is destroyed before delivery; in such a case, no wage is earned.
