What is the obligation of the person who saves lost property from imminent danger?

Once the property is in the hands of the rescuer, he must hand it over to the Imam's deputy. By doing so, he is absolved of any guarantee or liability concerning the property. He does not gain ownership of it through the customary process of publicizing the find (ta'rif), as the religious law has not stipulated that procedure for such items.
