The same ruling applies if the second finder announces the item after knowing about the first finder, without informing the first finder about the announcement itself.

This situation is analogous to the ruling concerning someone claiming uncultivated land (muhajar) where another preceded him in staking the claim, and the second person cultivates it without the first's permission.
