What is the ruling if the found object returns to the possession of the finder?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Lost-and-Found Property
Primary text
If the original owner finds the lost item after it has returned to the finder through revocation of a gift (fasakh), repurchase, or other means, the owner has the right to reclaim the item. This is analogous to a husband who divorces his wife before consummation and then finds the *mahr* (dower) has returned to the wife.
Supporting text
The subsequent rulings concerning reclamation in this situation are similar to the rulings concerning the husband's right to reclaim the *mahr* upon divorce, which will be detailed elsewhere, God willing.
