Who bears the loss if maintenance delivered for the day is stolen or destroyed?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Maintenance (Nafaqāt)
Primary text
If the husband delivers the maintenance for the day, and it is subsequently stolen or destroyed, the husband is not obligated to provide compensation. This is because he is absolved of his duty upon delivery, akin to Zakat destroyed after collection by the authorized agent, or a debt recovered by the creditor.
