The partially freed person is obligated to provide maintenance for his relatives only to the extent of his inheritance share. This is because the obligation of maintenance is built upon the right of inheritance.
Supporting text
According to al-Muzani, the entire maintenance of his relatives is incumbent upon him because maintenance is not divisible. Al-Shafi'i holds that nothing is incumbent upon him for his relatives' maintenance because his entire status follows that of slaves.
