If a son and an ambiguous hermaphrodite were jointly responsible for maintenance, and the ambiguous person is later revealed to be a son, the true brother recovers the excess maintenance amount he paid from the other brother. If the ambiguous person is revealed to be a daughter, the daughter recovers the difference in maintenance from her brother, as the brother paid more than his obligatory share based on the initial uncertain state.
