Who is responsible for the maintenance of a married female slave if the husband defaults and the master provides maintenance?

If the master provides maintenance while intending to claim it back (*muhtasiban*), he has the right to recover that amount from the husband, regardless of whether the husband consents or objects. This is because the maintenance debt is exclusively the master's right, and the slave woman has no right over the past due maintenance; her right is only attached to the present maintenance required for her subsistence.
