Primary text
If both a paternal grandfather and a maternal grandfather require marriage provision and only one can be provided for, the closer grandfather is prioritized. However, if one is from the father's lineage and the other from the mother's lineage, the grandfather from the father's side is prioritized, even if he is more distant, because he is part of the paternal relatives (asabah), and the Lawgiver has recognized his lineage in matters of inheritance and male preference in succession, thus it applies also to maintenance and entitlement.
