What are the standards for clothing slaves?

The clothing provided must be according to custom (Ma'ruf) and commensurate with the general type of clothing worn by slaves of similar status in that particular locale. It is preferable for the master to dress the slave in clothing similar to his own, based on the instruction, 'And clothe them from what you wear.'
