Primary text

If the heir identifies the slave before the lot drawing, the ruling is as if he had specified it from the beginning. If he identifies the slave after the lot drawing and his identification aligns with the result, the ruling does not change. If his identification contradicts the result, one-third of the slave he specifies becomes free due to his specific declaration. If he specifies the slave whom his brother specified, two-thirds of that slave becomes free. There is a difference of opinion on whether the manumission resulting from the lot drawing is invalidated in the latter case.
